The Beautiful Sunsets

About

The Beautiful Sunsets are a five-piece Seattle based folk rock band that play clever and salient original songs with a spattering of worthy traditional or cover songs (The Pogues, Steve Earle, early Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, Hank Williams Sr., etc.). As the name implies, they focus on making beautiful music, rich with textures and harmonies, but music with substance.

This is not bearded false drawl alt-country or Americana, or some 60’s folk rehash, but sincere music from real people who have lived, laughed, suffered, prospered, and lost almost everything, only to survive and rise again.

From the dismal entrenched urban ghettos, to the black lung coal mining villages of misty mountain hillsides, The Beautiful Sunsets bring forth stories of relationships, poverty, desperation, and resistance. Coalminers and moonshiners. Farm workers and day laborers. The Beautiful Sunsets create soulful songs with vivid imagery of work, relationships, tragedy, and beauty, while creating rainbows within the mixture of rain and sunshine.

Previous incarnations of The Beautiful Sunsets have shared the stage with performers like: Damien Jurado, Tim Seely, Vince Mira, Pete Krebs (Hazel), Joel RL Phelps (Silkworm), Dick Valentine (Electric Six), etc., Fernando Viciconte, Mike Watt, The Murder City Devils, The Blakes, Head Like a Kite, Napalm Beach, Chiodos, etc.
